The owner of a new pizza chain in Delaware said he has decided to open a restaurant in the town of Delaware, where he said he will use a mix of local and imported ingredients.
“It’s gonna be the best pizza in the world, no doubt about it,” the owner, Joshua Geller, said.
Geller said he plans to offer pizzas made from local ingredients, but he did not disclose what that would be.
“Pizza, I’m talking about a mix,” he said.
“I think it’ll be a great mixture of local ingredients.”
Geller is opening the chain, Pizza Pizza Express, on April 1, but only at restaurants and other food stands in the state.
The owners have been talking to local pizza restaurants about opening restaurants in Delware, where they have been unable to do so for several years, said Chris Fisch, the state’s chief food official.
“They were kind of out of options,” Fisch said.
The first Pizza Pizza in Delaware was in the small town of Toms River in 2013.
The owner said the new restaurant is aimed at families who want a casual pizza.
“There’s not a whole lot of pizzerias around Delaware,” Geller told The Associated Press.
“But we’re going to make it easy for you, so you can come to our place and grab a slice.”
He said he is working with local farmers and would like to open in another town, such as North Bergen, in the future.
“We’re gonna take a little bit of a break, get our bearings, and hopefully, once we get back, we’ll have another pizza,” Gellers said.
